We are all handling the “stay in place” ordinance in many different ways. It’s time to embrace our new normal. Some people are fully taking advantage of the time and others are still adjusting.
Like many of us, I’ve found time just to enjoy life. I have been running a little more, and take nightly walks with my wife and kids.
It is also been great time to knock out some of the “to-do list” items. We have a mahogany door that gets a lot of direct sunlight and wreaks havoc on the wood. I’ve had time to refinish the door. https://homeguides.sfgate.com/restore-mahogany-wood-front-door-31439.html
This is also a great time to take care of easy home maintenance tasks. Replace those air filters. These need to be replaced every 30 days.
7 Easy Home Maintenance Projects To Do During Quarantine

- Touch Up or Repaint Walls
- Clean and Evaluate Light Fixtures
- Clean Your Small Appliances

- Vacuum Refrigerator Coils
- Plan Out Your Dream Home Remodel
I’m grateful the construction industry is considerate an essential job. I’m working, but with a new reality. Some are fantastic! Traffic is minimal and gas prices are low. Schedules are changing by the hour. Some timelines are moving up, while others are being held back. Some people are working and others are staying in place. We are just learning how to work around our ever changing environment.
It has become a good normal for us. I am able to really enjoy family time. With three kids, we are no longer running to practices, lessons, meetings, etc. We have played a lot of games. I learned, my oldest daughter does not like losing Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza (a card game she is addicted to), but really any game for that matter.
Learn to play Taco Cat Goat Cheese
My son has been able to take daily bike rides with us as a family in place of going to hockey practice. My youngest daughter is loving classes being offered online. Learning Spanish and playing the guitar. We are reading more and talking more. I am enjoying this new normal. I have time to enjoy my family and time for our home projects.
This is our life and we are all adjusting and will continue to adjust. We are finding new things daily (Instacart, Apple TV, etc.) I think we will all grow from this time and come out of the quarantine realizing life doesn’t have to be so hectic and we need to keep our focus on what’s important.
Stay healthy and positive during this time.,
